SAN JUAN DEL SUR, NICARAGUA - Our full-day guided photo experience took us the Mombacho Volcano Nature Reserve home to the Mombacho Volcano. We started with a hazy stop at the Catarina Overlook where we had a bird's eye view of Granada, the glittering Apoyo Lagoon and Maderas and Concepcion, the majestic twin volcanoes that form the island of Ometepe in Lake Nicaragua. We drove to the Masaya Volcano National Park featuring the active Masaya Volcano, once the site of sacrifices during the pre-Columbian age. We enjoyed a lunch before driving through the colonial city of Granada and then back to the ship.
